“The biggest hoax ever inflicted on Coffs Harbour”?

Sally Townley met with the RMS on Tuesday and the obfuscation continued. We deserve better.

From an article in today’s Coffs Coast Advocate:
After a frustrating four-hour tussle in court on Monday it was resolved to hold another mediation on July 30.

“I had hoped that the RMS would produce at least some of the documents I was seeking, but they continue to pull the veil of secrecy over this project. However, we have agreed to continue mediation and I won’t give up,” Dr Townley said.

Among the band of supporters at the courthouse on Monday was Paul Owens who described the hunt for information as a Pandora’s box gradually opening.

“And if we think of what’s in the box it could be the biggest hoax ever inflicted on Coffs Harbour,” Mr Owens he said.

Editor’s comment: Firstly a huge thanks to Cr Townley for doing this.

It takes passion, time, commitment and guts to do what she has done. Namely to literally ‘take on the machine’. In this case the State Government in the guise of the RMS ‘machine’.

These are the actions of a Councillor who is committed to her community.

The obfuscation by the RMS raises the question; “What are they hiding and why?” Is it because the three tunnels don’t exist in any of their plans and that promises made during the recent state election ‘aren’t worth a hill of beans’?

“Publicity is justly commended as a remedy for social and industrial diseases. Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman. The most important political office is that of the private citizen. We must make our choice”. Justice Louis D. Brandeis, Brandeis University, USA.

In the meantime this song by Pink Floyd comes to mind; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn1R-5p_j5c

“What did you dream? It’s alright we told you what to dream.” Pink Floyd. ‘Welcome to the machine’
