⚠️ INTENSE STORM CAUSES FLOODING AND RESCUES – ORARA VALLEY
That intense overnight storm has caused flash flooding and seven rescue operations.
The highest rainfall was 192 millimetres at Corindi, but areas around the city, Glenreagh, Nana Glen and Woolgoolga all received in excess of 100 millimEtres.
The storm saw the SES called to seven flood rescues during the storm.
⚡ The Orara River is expected to reach around 14 metres at 8:00 am this morning and there are already a number of road closures.
⚬ The Orara River at Glenreagh Automatic Gauge may reach the major flood level (13.00 m)
⚬ The Orara River at Glenreagh Bridge (manual flood gauge) may reach the major flood level (10.00 m)
⚬ The Orara River at Coutts Crossing may reach the major flood level (12.00 m) Thursday afternoon.
👉 WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
⚬ Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
⚬ Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
⚬ Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
⚬ Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.
