Local unemployment figure hits the national news

Last night on the ABC 7.00 p.m. news during the national business report segment, ABC Business Reporter Alan Kohler presented the following figures (screen snapshot below);

  1. Now just how many years of National Party representation has it been in Coffs Harbour? When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn.

  2. I’ve only lived in Coffs for 15 years, but I was able to judge that the National Party wasn’t taking the electorate seriously. The previous federal member didn’t light any fires and the new person, Whatsisname, hasn’t even been able to find a spark. At the state level, Fraser made a lot of noise but appeared to produce few outcomes, but Gurmesh Singh is a different character. He speaks sense, has a public face, does stuff and seems to be more interested in his constituents, than he is in himself.

    Sadly, he’s part of a government which is not prepared to do anything but blow hot air, with respect to our home-grown local government crisis, and we’ll need to change the faces in Macquarie St., if we have any hope of making things better in Coffs, in the long term. Having said that, Labor bullshit smells just as bad as the LNP variety, and deposing Gurmesh may be cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

    I wonder if we can persuade him to stand as an Independent.
