Coffs Harbour house prices rise almost 10% in first three months of this year.

News that houses prices are soaring is usually greeted by property owners and real estate agents alike, but in Coffs Harbour, it’s creating heartache.

Domain’s March House Price report found house prices in the Coffs Harbour-Grafton region rose by 9.9 per cent during the first three months of 2021.

I think what we do forget is behind every one of these numbers is an incredibly emotional and personal story about not being able to find affordable housing on the Coffs Coast,” McGrath Principal Martin Wells said.

Mr Wells said his agents are hearing stories daily of the struggle people are having as they battle to secure a home.

“At the moment there’s people with great jobs that are couch surfing with friends, or living in in their cars, or skipping between motel rooms because that’s all they’ve got at the moment.”

The March quarter rise puts the median house price in the Coffs Harbour-Grafton region at $599,000; a year ago it was $490,000.
