The $8.9 million, three storey development will include underground parking, 15 apartments and also retail spaces.

About ten people registered to speak against the development, some raising issues about the building’s height as well as the aesthetics of the building.

Others have accused the panel of making a predetermined outcome before the meeting, but the panel chair Gary West says that’s not the case.

“We understand emotionally that there are people who are opposed to the development, on planning grounds we had to make a decision and the panel resolved to approve it,” Mr West says.
