Work is continuing to move ahead on the new access road from Hogbin Drive to the Airport Enterprise Park development.

This new road is to be the main entry statement to the development. To enable the road to be constructed, a Traffic Management Plan has been put in place which means that one southbound lane of Hogbin Drive is currently closed around the works and a speed limit of 60kmh is in place.

A pedestrian/cycle-way diversion is also in place.

Due to the wet weather from February to April, the works at the intersection are expected to be completed by the end of July 2021.

The above is a Facebook announcement made by the Coffs Harbour City Council, Thursday 10 June 2021.

  1. The Coffs Aero Club, a registered charity, has functioned at our airport since 1928. It appears there is little hope that they will be there to celebrate their centenary in seven years time.
Rumour has it that from advice received, their annual rental costs will far exceed their capacity to pay. For decades local pilots have served our community by patrolling our beaches for sharks, a service for which I believe the club receives no financial support. Did Council make any provision for the new leaseholders to extend some consideration to support this organisation?
Have we no appreciation for our historic institutions?

CCO Editor: Shameless and highly problematic if correct in our opinion Tom. Can you get someone in a position to comment from the club to contact CCO?
